Our
network includes:
Argonne
National Laboratory, Process Engineering Section
(Energy Systems Division), conducts applied industrial
research and development of commercially viable recycling
and resource recovery separation technologies for private
and public-sector partners. The Section works with customers
/ partners to develop advanced environmentally sound
and profitable recycling and resource recovery processes
for Materials Extraction and Processing, Materials Separation,
Materials Recycling. Ed Daniels, director of the Energy
Systems Division, has a distinguished record of achievement
in technical and economic analyses of advanced energy
systems. He has been a leader within ANL in developing
a broad range of industrial processing and materials
recycling technologies for use in the commercial sector.
MIT Materials Systems Laboratory
- Prof Randolph Kirchain and his group are leading North American academic research and analysis of the material recycling systems. Prof. Kirchain conducts research concerning the resource intensity of the materials economies, including the robustness of material recovery infrastructures and instruction of engineers in technology decision making, especially in assessing the economic and environmental consequences of such decisions.
Cleghorn
& Associates Ltd.
are specialists in environmental management and strategic
alliance networking. The firm can help identify potential
partners and investment opportunities in environmental
technologies throughout the world, conduct a complete
strategic review and impact assessment for new facilities,
and arrange courses or longer-term training in many
different renewable energy and environmental areas.
Regulatory authorities can call on Cleghorn & Associates
to develop environmental protocols and legislation for
the oil and gas, pharmaceutical and paint industries.
They provide corporate advisory services in environmental
matters to government agencies and to the private sector
in Canada, Mexico and Colombia. Cleghorn & Associates,
known for its expertise in air quality issues, can prepare
implementation plans and recommend programs needed to
enhance air quality in problem areas. Dr Harry Cleghorn,
a physical chemist and the company president, has over
30 years experience in environmental consulting, industrial
R&D and university teaching.
Delft
University of Technology, Laboratory for Process Equipment,
is well known for its world class application-oriented
R&D on product, process and equipment aspects of
waste separation technology. Prof. Wijnand Dalmijn and
his group are pioneers in the development of technologies
for mechanical separation and recycling of both mineral
ores and waste scrap. Prof. Dalmijn consults internationally
and advises the Dutch government on recycling of cars,
municipal waste, construction and demolition waste,
and electrical and electronic equipment scrap.
Energy
Research Company (ERCo)
is a small high-tech company that conducts research
in industrial energy and emissions related areas. ERCo
has a number of federal and state R&D technology
contracts as well as funding from commercial sources.
ERCo develops technologies that it owns and typically
licenses to others for commercial deployment. Also,
ERCo consults to other companies on technology matters
and assists them in obtaining R&D technology or
demonstration grants. Dr. Robert De Saro has spearheaded
development of laser analytical technology for determination
of alloying element concentrations in molten metals.
Farahbakhsh
consulting
– Dr. Bahram Farahbakhsh has expertise in material
characterization and industrial on-line process monitoring;
managing projects from prototype development to plant
implementation; and leading and managing interdisciplinary
project teams, including government laboratories and
academic institutions. For the past 20 years, he has
been pursuing industrial R&D with a number of organizations.
Dr. Farahbakhsh, who holds a PhD in mechanical engineering,
has been responsible for developing a number of industrial
solutions and managing the transition from the concept
stage to the commercial system.
Phinix LLC
- Dr. Subodh K. Das is founder and president. Phinix provides the following products and services: Carbon management for manufacturing industries, recycling and recycle-friendly processes and products, aluminum process and product development, industrial sensor system development and implementation, and manufacturing software development and data management.
University
of Windsor, Light Metals Casting Technology Research
Group,
focuses on the improvement of the aluminum casting process
and the development of new casting technologies. Dr.
Jerry Sokolowski and his team work to develop new tools
and technology that will lead to innovation in current
processes and materials, resulting in the production
of parts with superior performance at reduced cost.
Because lighter vehicles are more energy efficient,
Sokolowski’s work is a boon to both industry and
the environment. Dr. Sokolowski is a metallurgist specializing
in molten metal and shape casting technologies.
